Student at Paris conservatory: composition and counterpoint with Andre Gedalge, Charles-Marie Widor and Paul Dukas, Dirigat bei Vincent d´Indy

For two years secretary of his friend Paul Claudel in diplomatic services in Brazil
1918
Still in Brasil he writes Sonata op. 47 for flute, oboe, clarinet and piano. Back in France he becomes a member of Groupe des Six
1922
Composition of Sonatine for flute and piano, the premier of which in the following year in Paris was played by Fleury
1940
Escape of national socialists, because of being jewish, to America. Lectorship for composition at Mills College Oakland. In the same year Composition of the woodwind quintet La Cheminée du roi Renée, an adaption of his composition for the Raymond Bernards movie Cavalcade d'amour of the year 1939.

He spent about half of his live in a wheel chair. Nvertheless he was on several journies at all times. His music was significantly influenced by those impressions.
