Studies flute with Jean-Louis Tulou, composition with Antonin Reicha
There are quite differing opinions about his flute playing (from awful to as good as Tulou) but he was appreciated by Reicha for his compositions.

Member of Societe des Enfants du Nord
Among his friends were the flutists Brossa, Donjon and Taffanel. These circle of friends led to the composition of several quartetts.

Composition of the fifth (and last) flute sonata.

His compositions include 19 pieces for solo flute, 113 duets for flutes, 19 trios for flutes and 14 quartets for four flutes or for flute and string trio.
