Mozart met him and his familiy in 1777/1778 in Mannheim and wrote arias for his wife and his daughter. They became close friends.

Employment at the court in Munich
Successor of Quantz at the Prussian Court
Disapproved the new developed instruments with keys and tried to also keep his students away from this innovations
Schubart praised his sound and the expressiveness
