Biography of Guiseppe Gariboldi (1833-1905)

Born in Macerata
Lived nearly all his life in Paris, due to his liberal political opinions, which bore the risk of being imprisoned in Italy. Rossini helped him to escape.
1856
Singing teacher at the residental school of Saint Germain en Lay
1859
Following an assassination attempt against Napoleon III. he left France for about three years and went on a concert tour through Belgium and the Netherlands
1871
Professorship for composition and flute at the Collège Rollin in Paris
He fought for the intellectual property rights
1885
Returns to Italy, loosing any French pension
12.04.1905
Dies in Castelraimondo after a pneumonia
Composed beside flute music also three operettas and lots of songs.
