Born in St. Ulrich near Vienna one of three waltz composing sons of Strauß dem Vater
1831
First composition of a waltz (said so). As the father did not want a musician as his son, he took violin lessons secretly
1844
First orchestra of his own at his twentieth birthday.
Fusion of the two family orchestras after the death of his father. His brothers are alternating in conducting while he is composing.
1863
Musical director of the court ball in Vienna.
1871
First operettas influenced by his wife (Jetti Treffz, a singer) and Jacques Offenbach.
1872
Concertour to Boston
03.06.1899
Dies in Vienna.
