Studies violin with Johann Stamitz in Mannheim

Violinist at court of Electoral Palatinate

Moves to Italy and follows there Jommelli and takes later lessons from Sammartini

Return to Mannheim (may be a year later)

Concertmaster at the court (may be 1758)

One of several conductors at court

Acquaintance of Mozarts during his visit in Mannheim. Mozart was impressed by his use of clarinets in orchestra.

Move to Munich with the court

Dies in Frankfurt/Main
His son Karl became a composer, too. His daughter Rosine was a pianist (lessons with Mozart)
Lots of compositions for flute, because the brother, father and his master played flute.
