Born in Dublin (due to Goldberg 1810)
Professorship for flute at the Royal Academy of Music
1843
Changes to the conical Böhm flute, at this time he was a supporter of Böhm
1847
As the cylindrical flute by Böhm came to the British market, Clinton became a opponent of Böhm and started to develop a new flute (Equisonant flute) himself.
1862
As soon as the patent for Böhms cylindrical flute was no longer valid, Clintons workshop startet to build cylindrical flutes himself, although he was a fervent opponent of this system before.
Premier flutist at the Italian Opera in London and teacher at the Royal Academy of Music
