Biography of Albert Franz Doppler (1821-1883)

Born in Lemberg, at that time part of Austria, later Poland and today Ukraine

Three years of lessons with the father, an oboist, bassonist, composer and conductor
1830
Moves to hungary with his brother. There flutist at the German theatre and later at the national theatre
1835
Solo flustist of the Bucharest opera
1838
Solo flute in Ofen, today a part of Budapest.
1841
Flutist of the Hungary National Theatre
1842
Co-founder of the Wiener Philharmonikder
1852
Performance with his brother Karl Doppler for a benefiz concert. Because of the great success, ten years of together touring follow.
1853
Co-founder of Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra
1858
Move to Vienna, first flute at the court opera
01.04.1858
Conductor of the court theatre in Vienna
1865
Lectorship at Vienna Music Academy
1870
His only son dies at the age of 15
1876
Band master of the opera theatre
1880
Break-up of flute playing because of asthma
He stayed with the wood flute all his live and never adapted to Böhms invention.

Franz Josef decoration

Dies in Baden near Vienna due to a stroke.

A really nice piece of music (even if you don't have a bell in C). Take a french horn player who is able to play properly piano. The flute has to practice, it is not so easy to play the role of a little bird in the woods...
