Born in Lemberg (his brother was also a great flutist)
Lessons with his father and his brother, lateron long concert tours with the brother. He was holding the flute the other way round because of being lefthanded.

Flutist of the royal municipal theatre in Ofen

Flutist and conductor at national theatre Budapest
1853
Co-founder of Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra
1862
Leaves Hungary and becomes conductor at the court theatre
1865
Chief conductor at the court opera in Stuttgart, Germany
1876
Teaches composition at the Stuttgart conservatory

Dies in Stuttgart
